JVL introduces MAC400 motor

A JVL Industri Elektronik product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 16, 2009

The existing range of 50 to 141W and 800W motors from JVL has now been supplemented with the introduction of a mid-range 400W model offering 1.3Nm up to 3,000rpm, and shortly up to 1,200W.

The MAC400 provides all of the same features as the larger MAC800 model, but also offers: absolute multiturn encoder (Q2 2009); prepared for Powerlink, Ethercat, Ethernet/IP, Profinet and Sercos; improved two-channel power dump circuit; two RS422 channels for encoder in/output and SSI encoder; six IO for capture of position; interrupt, counters, enable, timer and PLC functions; high-speed serial interface; plugable power connectors; and natural cooling.

The driver, controller, encoder and Hall sensor are all integrated within the motor in a robust, splash-proof housing.

The basic motors offer the following standard features: operating commands from PC/PLC via RS232/422/485; pulse/direction or quadrature inputs for electronic gearing; A+B encoder output; velocity and torque control, controlled digitally or via +/-12bit, +/-10V inputs; positioning via digital interface; software-controlled end-of-travel stops; selection of acceleration, maximum velocity, torque and so on; sixth-order servo filter; sine commutation with 2048 PPR encoder; alarm and 'in position' outputs; three inputs and three outputs for start/stop and capture applications; and internal power dump.

In addition, the JVL integrated MAC motors utilise a modular concept.

Plug-in expansion modules adapt the motor to the application.

The user can choose connector type, for example, D-Sub, cable glands or M12 connectors, and choose between Profibus, Devicenet, CANopen or nano-PLC control.

High-speed and wireless modules are further options.

If the feature required is not available, JVL offers a customised module.
