The E=motion land speed car will be on show at this year's Drives and Controls Exhibition.

This mustard-yellow 10-metre-long needle-shaped car is the brainchild of ABB and the Primetime Engineering team.

Driver Mark Newby and engineer Colin Fallows are pinning their hopes on E=motion breaking the existing world speed record for electrically powered vehicles - currently standing at 394km/h.

52 lead-acid car batteries power the 485kW vehicle, propelling it via two spindle AC motors controlled by an ABB drive unit.

It has already shown its potential in a test run at Bruntinghome airfield (Leicestershire), where it delivered spectacular acceleration.

Fallows and Newby are experienced drag racers, holding the UK speed record for jet-powered cars, and they are the latest in a long line of British speed record-setters.

E=motion will be on public display for the first time, allowing visitors to the show to see for themselves the engineering ingenuity behind the electric car.
