Drives and Controls best exhibition for industry
The co-location of the Drives and Controls 06 exhibition with other major manufacturing shows was believed by many to be a contributory factor to their increased visitor numbers
The British Automation and Robot Association has put together the seminar to give delegates a comprehensive overview of machinery safety issues in the light of current and forthcoming standards.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to discuss technologies and applications with organisations participating in the seminar and to browse the integrated exhibition.
The Machine Safety Conference is aimed at specifiers and designers of machinery and safety-related electrical control systems (SRECS).
Managers and engineers responsible for machine safety within their work environment would also find the seminar valuable.
The main theme of the day will be to look at IEC/EN61508 and IEC62061.
Functional safety is a core part of these standards but many machine builders, system integrators and end users are unfamiliar with its principles.
The draft ISO 3849-1 standard, which replaces EN954-1, will overlap with IEC62061 by extending the same principles to machinery.
The conference will bring delegates up-to-date on the impact and implications of safety in machinery applications, particularly in the context of current and forthcoming standards and compliant technologies.
Drives and Controls is the UK's only dedicated event for drives, automation, motion control and power transmission.
A comprehensive programme of workshops and seminars will run alongside the show, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 16th to 18th May.
