Pressure sensors withstand extreme conditions

A Kavlico product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 15, 2008

Kavlico has launched a line of sealed industrial pressure sensors that feature a stainless steel diaphragm in an all-welded 304L stainless steel housing, making them suitable for harsh conditions.

The sensors use Kavlico's oil-filled piezo-resistive (PRT) sensing technology, along with an ASIC.

Rugged by design, the sensors are capable of operating with a wide array of liquids and gases that are compatible with stainless steel.

Pressure ranges are available from 0-7 to 0-345bar, absolute or sealed gauge, for the models P251/P251R and 0-6 to 0-400bar for the models P250/P250R.

The models P250/P251 operate on a 5V DC power supply and provide a ratiometric 0.5 to 4.5V DC linear amplified output proportional to pressure, while the models P250R/P251R have an internal regulator and operate on 9 to 32V DC, while providing a regulated 5V DC or 10V DC linear amplified output proportional to pressure.

Each sensor is temperature-compensated and has high EMI/RFI rejection capability.

The sensors have an over-pressure capability of 2 x FSO (full scale output) and are designed to operate in situations with large over-pressure spikes.

Typical industrial applications include refrigerant control and recovery, pumps and compressors, process control, water management, autoclaves, hydraulic systems, and test and monitoring equipment.

A wide variety of 12 standard electrical and 10 standard process connection options allows the sensors to be configured to meet each end user's application-specific requirement.
