Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 5, 2005

The first annual Engineer-to-Order Conference will be held on 29th January 2005 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

DriveWorks and other leading design and engineering software solution providers are geared to participate in, and sponsor, the first annual Engineer-to-Order Conference, to be held on 29th January 2005 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

The event, aimed at officers and principles within the engineer-to-order manufacturing and engineering community, will feature high-profile speakers from the design and engineering software space, plus live product demonstrations and first-hand guidance and advice from end users.

Sponsors include DriveWorks, the design automation and engineer-to-order software provider; SolidWorks Corp, provider of mechanical design, analysis, and product data management solutions; in2grate, the integrated, end-to-end business software solutions supplier; in2grate value-added reseller in the US, Vision Business Solutions; and Jobscope, an integrated manufacturing information system for order-driven companies.

Keynote speaker Jim Brown, President of Tech-Clarity and regular contributor to www.technologyevaluation.com will home-in on the challenges facing manufacturing companies today, and will outline the strategies ETO companies need to adopt to survive and compete with the low-cost economies of China, Mexico and the Far East.

Fielder Hiss, SolidWorks Corp, will highlight the advantages of designing in 3D, and how an ETO company can get a product to market quicker.

Maria Sarkar, Vice President of Marketing, DriveWorks, will then focus on how ETO companies are under increasing pressure for product variation and customisation.

She will explain how companies can win more business and lower design costs by reducing the sales cycle for ETO products.

The presentation will show how custom products can be specified and designed within minutes rather than days through the use of standard software tools such DriveWorks and SolidWorks.

Sarkar comments: "The event is an ideal medium for engineer-to-order professionals to gain greater insight into how their organisations can more effectively reduce costs, increase orders and improve productivity through the use of state-of-the-art design and engineering software".

"We are delighted to be playing our part at the first of what I believe will become a well established and respected event, and look to supporting and participating in it for years to come".
