Kenda Electronic Systems has been awarded a contract by Areva T and D to supply a tariff metering system.

Kenda Electronic Systems has been awarded a contract by Areva T and D to supply a tariff metering system for the two new Supergrid 400kV transformers currently under construction at the National Grid Legacy Substation near Wrexham.

Housed in a single-bay enclosure, the tariff metering system will comprise CEWE main meters and Iskraemeco check meters, together with two Kenda Meteor 32-channel outstations, a voltage failure alarm panel, test terminal blocks and other ancillary equipment.

As well as covering the design, manufacture and site commissioning of the tariff metering cubicle, the contract also calls for Kenda to carry out the necessary meter compensation calculations and additional on-site wiring to connect the new transformers to the existing OMS (operational metering summator) cubicle.

As the main contractor for the expansion of the Legacy Substation, Areva T and D chose Kenda because of the strength of its technical and commercial proposals, coupled with the company's long track record in the design, manufacture and installation of metering data collection systems for the electricity-supply industry.
