Kenda Electronic Systems has been awarded a contract to upgrade the tariff metering at British Energy's two Scottish nuclear power stations in preparation for Betta.

The operational metering at the Hunterston and Torness power stations was revised in 2002 when Kenda supplied and installed its Operational Metering Summators linked to the ICIS Genset Performance Monitoring System.

Now Kenda is bringing the tariff metering data collection into line with the systems at all of British Energy's other power stations in England and Wales.

As well as the replacement of existing outstations with Kenda Meteor outstations and associated equipment, the contract provides for the installation of local collector stations at each site.

Following the commissioning of the new equipment, there will be a period of parallel running prior to registration under the BSC (Balancing and Settlement Code).

The old equipment will finally be removed after "Betta Go Live", which takes place on 1st April 2005.

Kenda also recently supplied its OMS and Meteor outstations for installation at Scottish Power's Cockenzie, Longannet and Cruachan power stations.
