Fluid cuts friction from ferrous metals
K-Tek is a novel liquid compound that measurably reduces friction, mechanical wear and fuel consumption, improves overall performance and extends the reliability and life of a wide range of equipment.
Kalimex has introduced a novel general-purpose antifriction treatment for ferrous (Fe) metals to the UK market.
K-Tek, a liquid compound, measurably reduces friction, mechanical wear and fuel consumption, improves overall performance and extends the reliability and life of a wide range of powered machinery and related equipment, claims Kalimex.
It may be used in engines, transmission systems, factory machinery and other ferrous-based equipment subject to wear as a result of metal-to-metal contact.
Using the treatment, a dramatic reduction in mechanical wear of up to 97% has been achieved in specific tests.
Recent tests with a Ford Escort XR3 saloon racecar revealed significant benefits attributed to using K-Tek in the combined engine and gearbox.
The car's driver, Andy Wickens from West Sussex, added the treatment to the power and drive train unit of his race-tuned, normally aspirated 2000cm3 Ford-based Ferriday Engineering CVH four-cylinder unit, tuned by Mike Tanski.
The liquid treatment, costing less than GBP 40, provided a measurable and significant competitive edge that would have cost thousands of pounds to achieve by any other method.
First measured on a static dynometer test rig and later tested under race conditions, the use of K-Tek resulted in an increase in power of 2.29% BHP, equivalent to 4HP, and delivered several other benefits.
These included a reduction in oil temperature of 10C, better oil pressure retention, and a reduction in engine coolant temperature.
Besides vehicle engines and transmissions, K-Tek may also be used in any domestic, commercial and industrial application where metal is moving against metal, including manufacturing operations, food processing, pharmaceutical and medical production, or printing presses.
"Almost without exception K-Tek may be used in any machines or equipment where reducing friction will save costs and reduce wear", said Mike Schlup.
Available from stockists or by ordering direct from Kalimex by telephone, fax or from the company's website, a 500ml bottle of K-Tek treatment costs GBP 37.60, including VAT, and according to Kalimex will cover 50,000km of motoring in an average family saloon.
K-Tek is the only synthetic, environmentally friendly, antifriction metal treatment in the world and in specific, measured cases has been proved to reduce mechanical wear by up to 97%.
The compound will not void any original equipment manufacturers (OEM) warranties, claims its maker.
K-Tek is not an oil treatment, but uses the lubricant as a carrier and works by modifying ferrous surfaces and being absorbed into the metal.
The compound reacts with any ferrous-based metal to make the surface smoother and harder.
K-Tek has a complete chemical affinity with mineral and synthetic oils and is soluble in all known lubricants and fluids.
Because it is chemically inert and is absorbed into the metal, the compound does not disturb the pH balance of motor oil, gear oil, or any grease.
The technology behind K-Tek is in advance of other metal treatment currently on the market and does not contain chlorinated hydrocarbons or paraffin, fluoropolymers, graphite, PTFE, ethers, black and nonferrous metals, or ceramics.
It is not harmful to the environment and is biodegradable, which means it may be used in sensitive situations such as food production, agriculture, or where human contact may occur.
