PiezoStar crystals, developed and grown in-house by Kistler, have the high sensitivity essential to the manufacture of miniature pressure sensors for monitoring cavity pressure.

Two new cavity pressure sensors from Kistler exploit the sensitivity of the PiezoStar grown crystal to provide high-pressure measuring combined with small size and robust construction The PiezoStar crystals, developed and grown in-house by Kistler, have the high sensitivity essential to the manufacture of miniature pressure sensors for monitoring cavity pressure during injection moulding of very small components

The Type 9210A, for indirect mould pressure monitoring up to 3000bar, is only slightly larger than a single granule and the Type 6184A, a direct measuring sensor with a front diameter of only 1.2mm, for in-cavity pressures up to 2000bar.

Both sensors have a side cable exit, to allow radial or axial mounting, and use Kistler single-wire technology for simple multi-channel cabling.

This allows a single cable to connect up to eight sensors to either the CoMo Injection process monitoring system or the DataFlow process analysis system.

The new sensors extend the range of direct and indirect pressure sensors for in-cavity pressure monitoring, part of the Kistler Zero Defect Injection Moulding programme.
