Compact filter cleans up machine mist emissions

Oil mist filtration unit uses advanced disc stack centrifuge technology to achieve extremely high collection efficiency.

A new oil mist filtration unit, which uses advanced disc stack centrifuge technology (DSCT) to achieve extremely high collection efficiency, has been launched in the UK by workholding and manufacturing equipment specialist, Kitagawa Europe.

Exhibited for the first time in the UK at MACH 06, the Absolent g.one achieves 99.997% separation of 0.3um diameter airborne particles, to set new standards for centrifuge based filters in terms of size, durability, efficiency and low maintenance.

The new unit measures 560 x 561 x 1102mm and weighs just 95kg, making it ideal for mounting directly on most machine tools.

In addition, the compact and lightweight g.one is suitable for both wall or floor mounting, or can even be suspended from workshop ceilings.

At the heart of the new Absolent unit is a two-stage separation process.

The principal filtration stage utilises disc stack centrifuge technology developed by Alfa Laval, which requires no maintenance in normal use.

The disc stack module is powered by a 1.5kW motor and produces centrifugal forces of up to 5000g, to achieve 97% separation of all particles down to 1 micron.

In the unit's second stage, the process air is directed through a high efficiency HEPA filter rated at 99.997% at 0.3um, which has a guaranteed minimum service life of 12 months.

With an output that is cleaner than outdoor "fresh air", the g.one not only safeguards employees' health and safety, but also enables 1000m3/h of filtered air to be returned to the working environment at ambient temperature minimising additional space heating or cooling costs.

Suitable for a wide range of oils and all water based machining coolants, the new g.one from Kitagawa is designed for long and reliable service, with low life-cycle costs.

It is backed by more than 100 years of disc stack centrifuge design experience and is supplied with a full two-year factor warranty.
