Eliminating VOC fugitive emissions in industry

A specialist environmental control division has been set up by Klinger to provide a leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) service to identify and then eliminate VOC fugitive emissions on industrial plants.
Called Envolve, the service is designed to ensure that petrochemical and process engineering installations as well as many general industrial manufacturing companies reduce their environmental impact by minimising the release of airborne pollution and contaminants.
This also makes economic sense, since ever more stringent legislation is anticipated to affect these plants and all areas of their process operations.
As world leaders in sealing technology, Klinger can provide specialist fully accredited personnel to monitor and identify any unanticipated and pervasive leaks within process systems.
They can rectify any emission sources and eliminate the visible costs associated with lost process materials.
They can also avoid the hidden part of the iceberg representing the total costs of unchecked fugitive emissions.
These are represented by ongoing labour and material costs to repair leaks, wasted energy and overall process inefficiencies, possible claims for personal injury and environmental damage including clean-up costs, together with unmeasured damage generated through poor corporate image.
With over 50% of the source of emissions generally being leakage from valves, and 80% of these emissions normally being related to only 20% of valves, the Envolve service personnel will identify and tag all process line valves, and update system line diagrams.
Emissions are then measured and recorded on a plant emissions database with values correlated to overall plant leakage.
All results are reported to clients and leak repairs undertaken utilising the most appropriate methods and materials.
All site screening is undertaken to the latest EPA, FID and PID technologies with independent certification provided for the site, with a fast pay- back on their investment usually achieved for plant operators.
Database construction and management for a site is undertaken as part of the Envolve service operation, but can also be provided as a stand-alone product for organisations wishing to establish and maintain their own plant emissions records.
