Lubricant change cuts energy use by 17.3%
By converting over to the NSF H1 registered Klubersynth UH1 6-220 the brewery meets its food grade compliance policy and oil drain intervals can be extended to at least five years.
Following site surveys at all the plants it soon became apparent that the problems of chain seizures, excessive wear, chain failure and unreliable machine operation were down to one culprit - namely the lubricant in use.
Due to the high temperatures, in excess of 220C, inflicted on the chain during the baking process, the previously used lubricant had a tendency to burn off, leaving a build up of solids in the chain clearances, and resulting in expensive chain seizure and machine failure.
Hotemp OY 95 is the recommended lubricating oil from Messrs Mecatherm, France, for lubrication of baking oven transport chains subject to high temperature influences.
And this lubricant was put forward as an alternative to all the bakeries experiencing these problems.
Hotemp OY 95 can be applied to the baking oven chains via a centralised total loss lubrication system, or via automatic drip feed brush applicators.
Even with oven process temperatures in the region of 250C during manufacture, the ovens have now run in excess of 12 months with no reported chain wear or lubricant carbonisation problems. Request a free brochure from Kluber Lubrication GB ...
