Lubricant change cuts energy bill by 20%
After converting over to the NSF H1 registered Klubersynth UH1 6-220 the brewery now meets its food grade compliance policy on the bottling and canning lines.
Following the successful trial of Klubersynth UH1 6-220 on lift gearboxes in the process department of a major UK brewery, Kluber Lubrication was again asked to carry out a similar trial in the small pack department The small pack department consists of three bottling lines and three canning lines with a total of 1078 conveyor gearboxes in place

In accordance with Kluber recommendations as previously trialled on the Elevator gearboxes, the Brewery engineers and Kluber identified a trial conveyor gearbox and amp measurements were taken three times a day over a five-day period, with the previous mineral lubricant to act as a baseline.
The oil was replaced with Klubersynth UH1 6-220 and the exercise repeated.
After the five day trial had been completed, the energy consumption had reduced from 1.58 to 1.25A.
This equates to a 20.9% energy saving compared to the mineral oil product.

Oil drain intervals can be extended to at least five years, providing savings maintenance savings.
In addition to meeting their food grade policy they were also able to reduce lubricant spend due to increased lubrication intervals and meet their required energy savings.
Over a full year, a reduction in energy of 20.9% across all 1078 gearboxes would generate an energy saving in excess of GBP100,000.
The brewery has since agreed too convert all 1078 conveyor gearboxes over to the Klubersynth UH1 6-220 during a phased two-year period. Request a free brochure from Kluber Lubrication GB ...
