Duplicator multiplies CameraLink signals

The CL-D1 CameraLink duplicator converts a CameraLink master input to two digital video streams to allow the digital video signal to be transferred simultaneously to two target hosts.

The CL-D1 CameraLink duplicator converts a CameraLink master input to two digital video streams to allow the digital video signal to be transferred simultaneously to two target hosts The CameraLink duplicator splits the CameraLink signal into two digital video streams, a master stream for full bidirectional CameraLink communication and a slave stream for monitoring the digital video data on a second channel

The input signals on the slave connector are ignored to avoid problems with control signalling.

The duplicator can be used to separate video display functions and video processing functions or to process the video data with two computers to enhance overall processing speed.

The duplicator can also be used as a repeater to double the physical cable length.

For most applications that use CameraLink digital video the maximum physical length for copper cables is about 10m (40MHz clock).

With the CameraLink duplicator two cable lengths can be used, extending the distance to up to 20m.

The unit uses standard MDR 26-pin connectors and accepts a CameraLink Base video signal; maximum 24bit data format, video timing, FVAL, LVAL, DVAL and Strobe are also available.

The master stream supports one full duplex serial communications channel and four camera control signals (CC1 to CC4).

For extending CameraLink over longer distances Kane Computing offers OpticLink, a fibre optic based digital video transmission system. Request a free brochure from Kane Computing ...
