Sur-Tech of Copenhagen has been signed up to operate the Keronite surface treatment process in Denmark.

Keronite International of Cambridge, UK, has signed a partnership agreement with Sur-Tech of Copenhagen for the operation of the Keronite surface treatment process in Denmark Sur-Tech A/S was founded in 1982 and has since then specialised in advanced techniques such as electroless nickel, black chromium and copper, gold and silver plating for a variety of industries including electronics, medical and machine building

It is one of the leading Danish companies in solving problems in connection with surface finishing, and as such, the Keronite process fits perfectly with Sur-Tech's objectives and strategy of being at the forefront of surface finishing technology.

An eco-friendly process, Keronite is able to meet the stringent Scandinavian environmental requirements without the need for expensive waste disposal procedures.

Established in 2000, Keronite has developed a unique form of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO), a process which transforms the surface of light alloys such as aluminium and magnesium into a dense, hard ceramic with outstanding resistance to corrosion and wear.

Working hand in hand with a growing number of blue chip companies around the world, Keronite exploits its technology in the development of new applications for light alloys where conventional coating techniques have failed to meet customer requirements.

It has seen early success in industries ranging from automotive and aerospace to electronics, oil and gas, textile machinery, tooling and moulding, architecture and consumer products.

The company has partners operating its process across Western Europe, the USA and East Asia and has formed global alliances with companies throughout the light metal supply chain.

These range from casting companies such as Meridian, Timminco and Thixomat to suppliers of metal finishing processes such as Powdertech in the UK and Gramm Oberflachentechnik in Germany.

This growing network has real expertise in delivering cost-effective system solutions for high quality, high volume production of light metal components.

Keronite CEO Lars Olrik (who is Danish), is excited at the prospect of developing the Keronite business in Scandinavia.

"With growing interest in light metals and increasing environmental pressures on conventional coating technologies, the future for our partnership with Sur-Tech looks very promising".

"We are looking forward to working closely together over the coming months".

Together with Scandinavian representatives ABC Hansen Engineering of Copenhagen, Keronite will mark the launch of the new partnership by joining Sur-Tech for a "Keronite technology day" at the IDA's new headquarters (Danish Society of Engineers) on the harbour front in Copenhagen on Thursday 9th March.

The revolutionary PEO process will be introduced to leading Danish engineers from a variety of industries.
