ISO 9001:2000 certification achieved for applying advanced surface treatments using plasma electrolytic oxidation, as well as for the supply of processing plant, equipment and electrolyte products.

Keronite has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification for the application of advanced surface treatments using its PEO plasma electrolytic oxidation process, as well as for the supply of processing plant, equipment and electrolyte products Keronite was established in Cambridge in 2000 to provide technology services to industry, enabling manufacturers to reduce costs and improve performance through the wider use of aluminium and magnesium

The firm's surface treatment technology is used to convert the surface of light metals into a hard, dense ceramic with resistance to corrosion and wear.

The chrome-free immersion process is used to treat the inner as well as the outer surfaces of the most complex shapes and the technology is successfully being used across a whole range of industries.

The certificate of registration was issued by VCA, the executive agency of the UK's Department for Transport.

Lars Olrik, CEO of Keronite, said: "From the outset, VCA demonstrated a good understanding of the Keronite customer base and the issues facing our industry".

"In going for a corporate registration, it enabled us to put effective management systems and procedures in place very rapidly and we believe that these changes are already starting to add value for our customers and give us that all important competitive edge in the market".

VCA readily admits that the concept of quality is nothing new, but believes that the successful companies are those that have a concept of continuous improvement at the heart of their business.

Effective management systems not only enable companies to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency, but they also ensure that suppliers such as Keronite can keep customers satisfied and inspire increasing confidence.

Keronite's Cambridge headquarters have recently had a face-lift as have the company's web site and corporate identity.

Keronite invested heavily in laboratories in 2005 and now has an extensive array of the latest test equipment.

These facilities enable an energetic young team of applications engineers to understand customer requirements in terms of surface characteristics, and help determine how best to meet them using the Keronite process.

Quality Manager, Nigel Mangnall, has been through the process before with other companies and understands that this is just the beginning for Keronite.

In the coming months, he will be reviewing management systems at other sites within the Keronite Group and continuing to push for further improvements.

He will be closely monitoring progress in a number of areas.

"When all is said and done, our ability to win new business and retain existing customers are the only real signs of our commitment to quality", he said.

"I am confident that the coming months will demonstrate that this commitment is fundamental to every aspect of the Keronite business".

"There is a strong team spirit throughout the company: each and every one of my colleagues takes pride in the contribution he or she is making to the overall success of the business".

"It is this determination to be the best in class that will ensure our customers keep coming back to Keronite".
