Kontron's 2U and 4U KISS industrial servers are designed for applications that require high data processing performance without the need for high-speed PCI Express features.
Industrial servers keep noise levels down
KISS PCI 760 industrial servers offer scalable CPU performance ranging from single-core and dual-core Intel processors up to the Intel Core2 Quad processor Q6700 running at 2.66GHz.
Ethercat provides a real-time communication system.
With dimensions of 270mm high by 195mm wide by 232mm deep, the box PC is used primarily where little space is available, such as in enclosures, consoles or directly on machines.
The high electromagnetic compatibility and the resistance to shock and vibration make the system suitable for use in robust environments such as the control of printing machines or in sensitive areas such as medical technology.

The Kontron ThinkIO-Duo DIN rail PC requires neither batteries nor fans and is therefore maintenance-free.
Industrial servers receive processor upgrades
The Kontron KISS4U Short (177 x 482 x 300mm) leaves plenty of room for connecting cable ducts and dock ons at the rear, making it suitable for rack mounting in industrial applications.
Continuous operation is guaranteed up to an ambient temperature of 55C, and the industrial power supply covers brief voltage drops with 24V DC, thus guaranteeing long-life and secure operation even in 24hr continuous operation and under extreme system loads.
Alternatively, power can be supplied via 230V or an external power supply.
The scalable ETXexpress module offers performance up to Pentium 2.0GHz, and is ready for Intel Core Duo processor technology in the autumn.
These dual-core processors allow critical and highly complex real-time applications to run on one computer at almost twice the performance.
There are four RS232 and four USB interfaces, VGA and DVI graphics, and Ethernet 10/100 and Ethernet 100/1000; two free PCI slots and two PCI Express x1 slots are available for expansion.
Interface expansions are possible via a customer-specific baseboard.
Depending on requirements, the system can be equipped with one or two shock and vibration resistant hard drives and two Compact Flash disks or two Express cards.
Ethercat is used for real-time communications between the process and field levels; the software configuration - adapted to a short cycle time of 50us, which corresponds to a frequency of 20kHz - is pre-installed on a flash disk and can be integrated into the system via plug and play.
The master does not require a special hardware interface; rather it is led out via the LAN interface.
Future industrial Ethernet products will use Net X technology from Hilscher, which supports standard Ethernet protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Ethernet Powerlink and Profinet RT. Request a free brochure from Kontron UK ...
