2U server boasts an extremely flexible and scaleable layout with the choice of either the embedded Kontron Mini-ITX or Flex-ATX motherboards and the latest multicore processors.
The new short version of the Kontron Industrial Silent Server, the KISS-2U Short packs multicore performance and layout flexibility into a reduced installation depth of only 350mm.
With its compact form, the quiet (35dBA maximum) Kontron KISS-2U Short ensures plenty of room for connecting cable ducts and docking stations at the rear, making it ideal for rack mounting in rugged industrial applications.
Despite its compact size, the 2U server boasts an extremely flexible and scaleable layout with the choice of either the embedded Kontron Mini-ITX or Flex-ATX motherboards and the latest multicore processors from Intel and AMD.
Further flexibility is provided by twin PCI expansion slots for application specific extension cards.
Multiple Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and serial interfaces add to the versatility of the Kontron KISS-2U Short.
It is therefore the perfect fit for a broad range of applications in industrial automation, process control, high-speed image processing, medical technology, defence engineering, transportation and building control technology, to name a few.
Hard drive access in every configuration is SATA-quick and safe thanks to the shock-protected 5.25 and 3.5in drive bays.
The Kontron KISS Stor Slim RAID 1 subsystem adds to data safety with dual 2.5in HDDs in a single, hot swappable carrier.
The industrial 2U server's three extremely quiet and hot swappable fans contribute to its impressive MTBF which is specified as 50kh.
The KISS-2U Short adds yet another dimension to the KISS family that now covers the full height and depth of server applications - from 4U to 1U, from standard to short.
The Kontron KISS-2U servers support Windows XP, Vista and Linux and are available from stock as standard systems from Q4 2007 or can be customised as needed and delivered as tested and independently certified solutions.
