Two-part adhesive speeds body shop repairs

A Kommerling UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 29, 2008

Kommerling's Korapur 666 proves itself as the adhesive of choice for leading refrigerated panel repair organisation.

GB Trucks, a leading exponent of commercial vehicle repair and refinishing, has made the decision to use Kommerling UK's renowned Korapur 666 on all of its refrigerated panel repairs.

Initially the company was only using the two-part adhesive when specified by the vehicle manufacturer, but the quality of the bond has persuaded the company to switch to using the product across its full range of body repairs.

The vast majority of refrigerated panel damage is caused as a result of impact and water ingress.

According to Geoff Bates, Managing Director of GB Trucks: "Korapur 666 provides an exceptional bond and to date we have not had a single failure on any repair we have undertaken using this product".

"Not only that but the workshop team finds it easy to handle and it meets all the recent health and safety regulations regarding the elimination of harmful products from sealants and adhesives".

"Alongside the quality of the product we receive excellent after sales support from the Kommerling team".

He continues: "With the increase in Internet shopping the supermarkets are increasing the numbers of refrigerated vehicles, both large and small".

"These specialist vehicles represent a significant investment and repairing them and getting them back on the road is vital for these businesses".

Ian Little of Kommerling comments: "Korapur is one of a range of leading products for the body shop market".

"The fact that it will remain workable for up to 90 minutes from the time of mixing, means that body shop staff have more time to work on a panel and that there is far less wastage".

Korapur 666 is one of a range of two-component polyurethane solvent-free adhesives suitable for bonding metals, wood, PVC (rigid) and glass-fibre re-enforced plastics.

This is ideal for the adhesion of aluminium corner joints and profiles in vehicle construction and provides good resistance to humidity and weathering.

Korapur 666 is available in small 350g cartridges for use on small repairs or large 6kg tubs for full scale manufacturing use.
