The VHD anti-backlash assembly from Kerk Motion Products is for eliminating drag and wear associated with high pre-load forces and is a replacement for ball screws.

It provides the maximum load-carrying capability and the highest axial and radial stiffness of any Kerk nut assembly.

Designed for smooth, quiet operation and long life, the assembly provides low drag torque by making use of the company's axial take-up mechanism, creating a stiff spacer that will continually expand to accommodate the wear which occurs during use.

The self-lubricating VHD helps combat environmental and noise reduction problems as encountered in the packaging industry.

Since airborne paper dust is regularly generated in the carton and case packing area, almost everything eventually gets covered in a light layer of dust.

However, the screw does not require grease to operate, and therefore reduces noise and dust in the workplace.

Available leads are from 1.27mm to 92mm and lengths are up to 4m.

The screws are 303 stainless steel, with Kerkote TFE extended life coating optional.

Assemblies are available cut-to-length or with screws machined to requirements.
