Some of the world's most viscous crude oil flowing from China's Liaohe oil field is now being accurately measured by Krohne Corimass G+ mass flowmeters.

Some of the world's most viscous crude oil flowing from China's Liaohe oil field is now being accurately measured by Krohne Corimass G+ mass flowmeters The crude oil produced in the Liaoning province of north-east China has an even higher viscosity than product from Venezuela and Kazakhstan

The poor fluidity of the oil causes problems when measuring its mass flow rate because of the frequent blockages encountered using other types of flowmeter such as PD or turbine meters.

The non-intrusive Krohne MFM 4085 G+ with its single straight measuring tube overcomes these mass flow problems as there are no moving parts inside the tube to interfere with the fluid flow.

This avoids any possibility of the tube being blocked by the high viscosity oil.

The G+ has high accuracy, high stability and high repeatability even at very low flow rates.

Krohne Mass Flow Product Manager, Eddie Bridges, comments, "After comparing and analysing flowmeters from manufacturers all around the world the Liaohe Oil Field operators chose the Krohne G+.

They are now in continuous use measuring the mass flow of the high viscosity crude oil at extreme temperatures and pressures, and the results are even better than expected." Corimass G+ flowmeters are suitable for accurate dosing and batching processes and for measurement of minimal flowrates.

Meter sizes are designed for liquid products from 10 to 3000kg/min.

The G+ is suitable for all applications in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, bio-engineering, food and beverage industries, additive dosing in papermaking, water and waste water treatment.
