Level sensor monitors naphthalene
Naphthalene has a very low di-electric constant of around 2.2 at 100C, which makes it particularly difficult to measure.
Flowmeter improves wax production
The wax flowing through the flowmeter can vary in density from 0.8 to 1.0kg/litre and in viscosity from 5.5 to 1200cP.
Both instruments are suitable for a broad range of tank measurement applications to measure distance, level and volume of liquids, pastes or solids.
They have also been designed for ease of installation and operation.
The Optiwave is a new generation of FMCW (frequency modulation continuous wave) radar device with a maximum measuring range of 40m, whereas the Optiflex is a TDR (time domain reflex) device capable of measuring up to 35m.
The Optiwave operates with an increased bandwidth which ensures sharper resolution and greater accuracy and repeatability of measurement.
It is capable of detecting small and fast changing levels and will give more precise location of its true surface.
Obstructions such as struts, inlets, ladders and even agitated surface foam are taken into account to provide a more reliable measurement.
The devices have four screen display options: alphanumeric, alphanumeric with tank illustration, alphanumeric with bargraph and signal screen.
The higher signal dynamics of the Optiflex results in improved performance and capability even at low dielectric values, which can be as low as 1.1 depending on the application and tank construction.
The Optiflex is available with five different probes - single rod, double rod, single cable, double cable and coaxial.
This allows the device to be used for virtually any application.
A built-in setup wizard has been designed to make installation of the Optiwave and Optiflex straight-forward and quick.
Once installed in the tank, wired in and switched on the instrument will carry out a self-diagnostic check to ensure correct operation.
The setup wizard also helps the engineer to configure the device to its application.
The wizard takes the operator through a series of step-by-step questions that define the tank and the product to be measured.
A help screen is also available to provide further assistance.
The Optiwave and Optiflex are compatible with Krohne's Pactware software, which is available free of charge from the company's website.
This Windows based configuration tool provides a common user interface which is vendor independent.
