Level gauge fit for US railways

A K-Tek product story

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) now certifies K-Tek as a Class F Tank Car Facility.

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) now certifies K-Tek as a Class F Tank Car Facility.

This certification ensures that K-Tek meets or exceeds strict manufacturing, inspection, testing and repair of tank cars and tank car components as detailed by the AAR.

It also ensures that personnel involved in all phases of manufacturing are trained in accordance with AAR standards.

The end result is a more reliable and cost-effective level gauge for tank cars.

Because K-Tek now holds this certification, its customers can be assured that they are receiving a well designed, high quality product that conforms to strict AAR standards.

K-Tek currently manufactures an AAR approved tank car "top-mount" gauging device called the KM50.

This is a magnetically coupled, liquid level indicating device that provides an isolated means of determining the fluid level within a storage tank car without exposing personnel to potentially harmful contact.

It operates on the principle of magnetic coupling between opposing magnets that are separated by the walls of a sealed, nonmagnetic tube.

The KM50 can operate in temperatures to 300F, pressures to 600lb/in2(g), and effectively measure mediums with specific gravities as low as 0.44 with a single float.

Furthermore, there is no need to dip and clean the rod with each measurement.
