K-Tek has formed a new partnership with ASI Instruments to focus on the detection and measurement of dry bulk solids.

K-Tek has formed a new partnership with ASI Instruments to focus on the detection and measurement of dry bulk solids ASI Instruments of Houston, Texas, is a leader in solids level measurement, specialising in grain processing and milling, as well as plastics manufacturing, aggregates, building materials, and food production

ASI operates throughout North America and South America.

Working together, K-Tek and ASI Instruments are collaborating on technology development and sales distribution.

K-Tek is focusing on its expertise in liquid level measurement, and ASI is specialising in dry bulk solids applications.

"Combining K-Tek's expertise in laser and guided wave radar technologies with ASI's focus on dry bulk solids provides the industry with the broadest range of innovative level measurement solutions", stated Rao Sanampudi, COO, K-Tek.

"Regardless of the product density or angle of repose, these sophisticated level instruments provide accurate and reliable measurements with pressures to 3000lb/in2 and temperatures to 450F".

"This means bulk solids manufacturers can choose exactly the right measurement device for their particular application, from low cost RF capacitance transmitters to pinpoint precision laser devices".

As a result of the partnership, ASI now offers the most complete range of state-of-the art, dry level measurement products in the industry, including rotary paddle switches, vibrating fork switches, plumb bobs, RF capacitance switches and transmitters, ultrasonic transmitters, laser transmitters and guided wave radar devices.

The company established its reputation for quality and service with its line of RF capacitance transmitters.

Designed for highly sensitive level applications, these products are able to detect differences in capacitance as small as 1.0pF.

This is especially important for measuring materials with low dielectric, such as dry polyethylene pellets.

Using a unique probe technology, ASI's capacitance devices are immune to conductive coating and buildup.

ASI Instruments is the only dry level measurement company to also offer a broad line of laser transmitters.

The advanced timing system and sophisticated, self-correcting signal processing functions allow accurate and reliable measurement of level, distance, and position in the harshest of conditions.

Even in the presence of dust or vapours, as are commonly found in large silos of coal, grain, or plastics, and in underground mines or quarries, ASI's laser devices provide accurate, long distance laser measurements with no beam divergence (less than 0.2 degrees).

As a result, in many applications the laser goes beyond the point where other technologies stop.

ASI also provides a series of guided wave radar products.

Using a waveguide to direct microwave pulses, these devices eliminate the beam divergence problems common to conventional non-contact radar transmitters.

Guided wave radar transmitters have no beam divergence due to their waveguide design and, therefore, no false echoes.

They are ideal for use in vessels with complex, internal structures or small, tight spaces, and are routinely used in fly ash, lime, or flour.
