Designed for use with the MT2000 guided wave radar level transmitter, the C8P71 is a robust coupler and waveguide created specifically for high-temperature and high-pressure hydrocarbon applications.

The coupler can withstand extreme pressure and has the highest temperature rating in the industry: 103bar at 427C and 344bar at 38C.

The C8P71 directs the radar beam through a concentric waveguide, thus alleviating divergence problems and echoes from tank walls and surrounding structures.

The C8P71 has a hermetic seal and is unaffected by vapours (excluding steam), making it especially useful for noxious environments.

"As temperatures fluctuate, specific gravities vary, causing errors in traditional devices like differential pressure gauges and displacers", stated Robert Hotard, Product Manager for Radar and RF products at K-Tek Corp.

"As the MT2000 does not rely on specific gravity to make its measurements, it is not subject to errors caused by temperature changes".

"The end result is a more reliable level indication, tighter control of the process, and increased efficiency".

The MT2000, configured with the Model C8P71 waveguide, is designed specifically for measurements in high temperature and high pressure hydrocarbon applications, including liquid/liquid interfaces.

By incorporating a borosilicate glass insulator/seal and a 316 stainless steel body, the device can handle extreme pressures and higher temperatures than other guided wave radar transmitters in the industry.

The MT2000 provides the highest accuracy readings in the industry at +/-5.1mm.

With traditional displacers or DP transmitters, the specific gravity of the fluid being measured changes with temperature and pressure, producing varying accuracies.

The MT2000's guided wave radar is unaffected by variations in specific gravity, thus providing accurate level measurements even with widely varying temperatures and pressures.

With virtually no beam divergence and, therefore, no false echoes, the MT2000 is ideal for use in a wide variety of applications, especially in vessels with complex, internal structures or small, tight spaces.

The C8P71 has a 1.3145 OD coaxial probe as a standard assembly for clean fluids.

It is also available with larger included stilling wells for dirty fluids, which are typical for refinery applications, such as flare knock out drums and vacuum towers.

The C8P71 option is available with a powder-coated aluminum enclosure or with a 316 stainless steel enclosure for corrosive environments.

The dual-compartment design of the MT2000 isolates the wiring and terminations from the sensing elements and internal electronics.

FM Approved and CSA Certified for use in hazardous areas, the MT2000 is also ATEX certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The MT2000 probes can be customised for retrofitting into existing stilling wells and displacer chambers, from 2 to 22ft.

Output is via 4-20mA, Hart, or Honeywell DE.

Results are displayed locally with a built-in, scrolling LCD panel that allows a field-selectable choice of feet, inches, millimetres, centimetres, metres or percent.
