Kontron now offers a single board computer that meets the new PICMG 1.2 Embedded PCI-X Specification.
Kontron now offers a single board computer that meets the new PICMG 1.2 Embedded PCI-X Specification - a standard spearheaded by Kontron to extend PCI/PCI-X capabilities to the embedded and applied computing environments.
The ePCI-100 is a half-size, Intel 810E chipset-based SBC featuring an Intel Pentium III processor at 866MHz.
The ePCI-100 can be designed into a number of applications requiring high density and high processing power in a cost-effective SBC form factor.
"The combination of Intel processors and chipsets with Kontron's expertise in PICMG 1.2 product designs has resulted in a solution that extends the benefits of PCI and PCI-X technology into a variety of applied computing market segments, including industrial control, data communications, computer telephony and point of sales applications", stated Joe Jensen, General Manager of the Embedded Intel Architecture Division.
"Embedded PCI-X specification is a natural evolution from the original PCI-ISA Passive Backplane Specification, which Kontron also initiated", stated Benoit Robert, Executive Director, Product Marketing at Kontron.
"The state-of-the-art ePCI-100 complements Kontron's current VIPer product line with its PCI bus expansion support".
The ePCI-100 SBC has a PCIbus with 32bit support.
It also supports up to 512Mbyte of SODIMM memory, high performance PCI Ultra DMA/66 IDE and CompactFlash.
It comes with an integrated 2D/3D 64bit CRT video controller with DVI output.
The board includes two Intel 82559 ER 10/100Base-TX ports, a USB port, serial/parallel ports and a floppy interface.
A PC/104-plus expansion header provides access to PCIbus for stand-alone operation.
