Kontron announces computer-on-module SDR test

Kontron has announced that its nanoETXexpress-SP Computer-on-Module was tested in a software-defined radio (SDR) solution.
According to performance testing conducted by PrismTech on its SDR solution, jointly developed with Wind River, Kontron's Intel Atom-based Computer-on-Module has yielded exceptional results in a variety of performance benchmarks.
'The Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP was designed for next-generation, ultra-mobile applications.
Results of the integrated solution tests confirm its excellent performance in a small-form-factor platform for military applications,' said Norbert Hauser, vice president of marketing for Kontron.
Based on the Intel Atom Z5XX processor series, the system delivers energy-efficient performance in a compatible COM Express pin-out Type 1 form factor.
'The impressive results of our SDR solution integrated with the Kontron platform underscore the benefits that can be achieved using a COTS approach,' said Keith Steele, chief executive officer of PrismTech.
Rob Hoffman, general manager, Aerospace and Defense, Wind River, added: 'We believe that the tests will also prove to demonstrate how our combined SDR solution with Wind River can enable a wide range of other SDR applications to be deployed.
'Utilising Wind River's VxWorks 6 executed on a Kontron nanoETXexpress-SP module showcases the results combining both software and hardware COTS solutions to reduce development time in a standardised platform,' he added.
