Kuka Robotics Corp has been selected by SHL Automation as the robotics supplier for its new grinding and scotching system.

Kuka Robotics Corp has been selected by SHL Automation as the robotics supplier for its new grinding and scotching system SHL Automation of Tucker, Georgia, will use the Kuka KR 16 robot in its system which will allow manufacturers to improve worker safety and product quality

The new system will be demonstrated at SHL's open house scheduled to take place at SHL's headquarters from 5th to 7th December 2006.

"SHL's new system using our robot is designed to grind with extremely consistent grinding pressure to produce superior high quality work pieces", said Kevin Kozuszek, Director of Marketing for Kuka Robotics Corporation.

"Metal, plastics and wood manufacturers now have an efficient and safe method to grind, polish, scotch and measure their products".

"At SHL just as at Kuka our commitment is to provide our customers with safe and reliable quality tools to give them a competitive edge", said Albert Trail, Sales Manager for SHL Automation.

"This cell not only will improve their quality but with its added safety measures including a manual loading and unloading table secured with light curtains will improve worker conditions".

The new system is designed to grind, scotch and measure door handles.

The Kuka KR 16 robot is a six-axis robot with a 1610mm reach and capable of handling up to a 16kg payload.
