A series of technology open days featuring the latest developments in robotic vision systems will be held at KUKA Automation + Robotics on 25th and 26th October 2006.

KUKA will host the free, two-day event at its modern West Midlands facility in Halesowen, in conjunction with Cognex, one of the UK's leading suppliers of machine vision systems and sensors.

Among the state-of-the-art interactive displays and invaluable workshops will be a 3D bin picking demonstration.

Visitors will be able to see how a KUKA robot with an integrated Cognex vision system can nimbly and efficiently undertake the random picking of parts from a tote bin.

There will also be several other displays including a 2D robotic inspection demonstration in which a KUKA robot is guided by a vision system to perform tasks such as part measurement and assembly verification.

In addition, a KUKA robot will demonstrate its versatile capabilities for rapid product identification, inspection and orientation by recognising parts of a block jigsaw and displaying the image on a human machine interface HMI terminal.

A team of experienced engineers from KUKA and Cognex will run a selection of informative workshops during the event which has been specially designed to show how the implementation of the latest robotic vision systems for a wide variety of applications is now even easier thanks to further improvements in software and tools.

"This series of informal open days will enable visitors to see at first hand the impressive new developments in reliable 2D and 3D robot vision applications".

"The working displays represent an excellent opportunity to learn more about the remarkable capabilities of these systems", explained Paul Richards, KUKA's General Sales Manager.

A limited number of places are available on both days so registration is required prior to the event.
