This covering is fire retardant, low smoke, low toxicity and offers a high temperature tolerance indicating a high combustion point.
Naturally this type of conduit is a must in such environments where fire requirements are high.
As well as having high mechanical protection, the conduits are flexible, allowing the products to contour around bends and obstacles within the underground.
The LT-T conduits used were 63mm in diameter making them the largest fire hazard conduit manufactured in the industry.
Steve Semple, Design Manager for the consultant WS Atkins comments: "We have been specifying Kopex products and systems for years.
The high quality of service and selection of products which are approved by London Underground made them a conduit manufacturer we could rely on for Leicester Square Station.
This project required a flexible conduit and one which complied with Section 12 of the Fire Protection Act.
This made Kopex the obvious choice".
In addition to the LT-T conduit, 380-off straight 63mm KF-F connectors were used plus 84-off 45-degree KF-F connectors.
Kopex is one of the few manufacturers in the industry that supplies an angled connector.
