The RD404 will let companies not just monitor impact and vibration but also tilt and sway, so giving a more complete picture of the physical environment that the product has endured through transit or in storage.
It connects directly into the RD298 Shocklog via an RS232 cable through which it is powered, drawing less than 1mA during operation.
It stores all data within the RD2998 memory.
With 360deg tilt and roll outputs, the software has been modified so that the timeslot graphs will show the tilt (front to back) and roll (left to right) movement of the unit in degrees of movement.
To increase resolution, the data is recorded in quadrants and displayed in a range of +/-90deg.
Lamerholm has incorporated MEMS technology and the RD404 uses silicon accelerometers and DSP techniques, already proven in the automotive industry.
It can be used with the RD299 HPT (humidity, pressure and temperature) sensor to give a complete environmental profile for the product.
