Surveyor scanners offered with 64-bit capability

A Laser Design product story

Laser Design is shipping 64-bit computers with its Surveyor 3D laser scanning systems.

This will result in faster scanning speeds, faster processing speeds and a more reliable service when working with large files.

The improved system PCs will have more than four Gbytes of Ram, which will make scanning fast and dependable.

The 64-bit computers will also prevent ballooning file sizes crashing the system.

The larger Ram capacity, the SLP probes and the improved Surveyor Scan Control (SSC) software speed-up data capture and the creation of 3D point clouds.

As the SLP laser probe projects a line of laser light onto a part, cameras continuously triangulate the changing distance and profile of the laser line as it sweeps along.

The system measures fine details and captures complex free-form geometry so that the object can be exactly replicated and inspected.

Laser line scanners quickly measure articles, picking up tens of thousands of points per second and generating huge numbers of data points without the need for templates or fixtures.

High-performance laptops allow Laser Design to offer the same expanded file capacity and processing speed on the portable Surveyor FA-Series systems.

FA-Series systems use the articulated FARO arms, which are easy to set up and can scan on-site anywhere.

Laser Design's Surveyor line of automated and portable scanning systems capture the 3D shape of objects with complex geometries and free-form surfaces.

They are ideal for 3D scanning applications involving inspection and reverse engineering of complex shaped plastic and metal parts.

The company's laser line-probe technology reduces scanning time by quickly collecting data.
