Nanopositioning specialist Physik Instrumente has introduced a new series of piezo-driven linear actuators - the Pica-Stack range.

Nanopositioning specialist Physik Instrumente has introduced a new series of piezo-driven linear actuators - the Pica-Stack range.

Pica-Stack actuators offer load ranges from 100N to 100kN and generate forces up to 80kN.

These actuators are designed for high-duty-cycle applications with materials used which are designed for robustness and lifetime.

Endurance tests have shown consistent performance after billions of cycles.

The Pica-Stack range is available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes from circular to square or triangular, "through-hole" versions are included in the standard range.

Options include high or low temperature versions, nonmagnetic models and vacuum compatible units.

Typical applications are in optics, smart structures, precision machining, valve control, nanopositioning and nanotechnology.

Other applications will be found wherever nanometre precision motion, fast response or high forces are important design criteria.
