Nanopositioning controller comes into
focus
A new high-speed nano-focusing system promises a tenfold increase in focusing speed.
Physik Instrumente (PI), a leading producer of nanopositioning systems has introduced a new high-speed nano-focusing system High speed z-axis image acquisition is a prerequisite for the generation of 3D views of bio-samples in high resolution optical microscopes

Infrared Imaging : The best gets better
Viewing infrared wavelengths between 0.4-1.5microns, the converted image produced by the new 7215 is now brighter and offers edge to edge sharpness.
Conventional z-axis drives use motorised actuators to create numerous focus planes during the focusing procedure.
The individual "slices" are then processed using special software to create one 3D image.
Using piezo actuated vertical motion with PI's new controller, focusing speeds are increased by up to 10x.
Resolution of 1nm is achievable, approaching 100 times that of motorised systems.
The result of these improvements is higher quality images in much less time.
PI's affordable E-625 nanopositioning controller produces movement and settling times of only 10ms.
The system boasts both a high bandwidth analogue interface and a 20bit digital interface for maximum flexibility.
It integrates a low-noise piezo amplifier, a high speed servo controller and sensor electronics for absolute measurement nanopositioning sensors.
Other applications of the E-625 controller will be found in scanning and alignment tasks in microscopy, biotechnology, optics, semiconductor technology and photonics packaging. Request a free brochure from Lambda Photometrics ...
