Programmable power supplies for use on
benchtop

Designed for maintenance, RandD, scientific and test use, the Zero-up unit gives the user full control over the output through independent constant voltage and current modes.

Ilfracombe-based power supply manufacturer, Coutant Lambda, has introduced its first range of high performance programmable power supplies for use on the bench-top, the Zero-up (ZUP) Designed for maintenance, R&D, scientific and test use, this new compact unit gives the user full control over the output through independent constant voltage and current modes, and a versatile programmable interface which can be used in critical test applications

"For most power lab work, Coutant Lambda's first bench-top unit has all the features you'll ever need.

There's an option to keep either the voltage or current levels constant, even when the load varies during testing.

We've also included both RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces as standard and an optional IEE-488 one for comms or N+1 redundancy mode purposes," explained Trevor Jennings, product marketing manager for Coutant Lambda.

"And, because ZUP is available in a broad range of powers and with low ripple/noise and high power factor characteristics, it is definitely one of the most capable bench-top supplies available today." ZUP is available with outputs of 200, 400 and 800W.

Depending upon power requirements, output options are 0-6, 10, 20, 36 and 60V, and 0-132A.

The ripple voltage (rms) is rated at just 5mV at 1MHz and the power factor (typical) is 0.99 at 100VAC for a 100% load.

Input current harmonics comply with EN61000-3-2, Class A levels.

ZUP has an easy-to-read combination 3.5/3-digit LED display that reports voltage and current levels and several LED status indicators to flag any over-voltage, temperature, current and foldback conditions.

Address setting, overvoltage/undervoltage, voltage/current mode, output on/off, local/remote select and foldback protection controls are all conveniently situated on the centre of the front panel.

Serial communications interfaces and output terminals are located to the rear of the unit.

The Address setting control enables a user to pre-set voltage and current levels for remote or overnight testing which can be altered via the communications interface.

In the event of a loss-of-power, a safe restart mode ensures the power supply returns to the last known setting or an automatic pre-designated value.

ZUP will also support master/slave parallel operation.

Housed in a compact unit, 200 and 400W ZUPs measure just 70 x 124 x 350mm while the 800W variant is only 140 x 124 x 350mm.

The 200, 400 and 800W ZUPs weigh 2.9, 3.2 and 5.8kg respectively.

It's small footprint means that up to six ZUP units can be mounted in a standard 19 inch 3U-rack assembly.

ZUP has been built to UL 3111-1 and EN61010-1 safety and EN61326-1 and IEC61326-1 EMC standards. Request a free brochure from Lambda ...
