Extra power on the benchtop

Lambda introduces high power 800W version of its compact, cost-competitive ZUP power supply.

The Ilfracombe-based power supply manufacturer, Lambda, has introduced a new 800W derivative of its high performance programmable benchtop power supply, the ZUP 800 Providing a wide range of advanced features such as full output control and programmability, the new supply brings a significant increase in power to utility, maintenance, R and D, scientific and test applications

Trevor Jennings, product marketing manager for Lambda, comments: "This 800W scientific power supply is the most compact high power solution available today.

The ZUP 800 has all the features you'd expect from a laboratory-type power supply, but with a power rating that exceeds all its nearest competitors.

The unit offers independent control over the voltage and current as well as numerous programmable options, directed through the standard RS232, RS485 or optional GPIB interfaces.

For critical test applications where loads may vary, ZUP 800 is able to sustain both constant voltage and current levels aided by the load sense and parallel connections features." ZUP 800 is available in output voltages of 0 to 6, 10, 20, 36 and 60V, and currents of 0 to 132, 80, 40, 24 and 14A respectively.

The ripple voltage (RMS) is rated at just 5mV over 5Hz to 1MHz, while load regulation is stated at 0.005% +2mV from no load to full load and line regulation is 0.005% +1mV from a continuous 85-265VAC source, allowing worldwide usage.

Power factor is typically 0.99 at 100VAC for a 100% load and input current harmonics comply with EN61000-3-2, Class A levels.

For operator convenience all controls reside on the front panel of the unit.

These including, address setting, output on/off, local/remote select and foldback protection.

The serial communications interfaces and output terminals are located at the rear of the ZUP 800 enclosure.

The address setting control permits the pre-setting of voltage or current levels for remote or overnight testing through the communications interface.

In the event of a power failure, a safe restart mode returns the power supply to the last known setting or an automatic pre-designated value.

ZUP supports master/slave parallel operation and can also facilitate hard-wired voltage/current requirements.

The ZUP 800 measures 140 x 124 x 350mm and weighs 5.8kg.

Three of these units can be mounted into a standard 19-inch 3U-rack.

ZUP 800 has been tested and built to UL 3111-1 and EN61010-1 safety and EN61326-1 and IEC 61326-1, FCC part 15 (class A) EMC standards.

The ZUP programmable power supply is also available in 200W and 400W versions. Request a free brochure from Lambda ...
