Safety is key to automation

Safety is a major concern in any system and should be taken very seriously, as Malcolm Chadwick, Sales Director of LC Automation explains; "Where employee safety is at stake, simply buying 'off-the-shelf' products is not always enough, you also need up to date information and expert advice You need to know you can rely on the backup of value added services such as risk assessment, training, circuit design, installation and even complete project management where required

AS-Interface is standard bus and safety bus in one
The AS-Interface is by far the simplest networking system for low level field devices, says Ken Davies, Managing Director of LC Automation.
It can't be left to chance".
There is a wide range of safety solutions available, but keeping up to date with the latest legislation and standards can be a problem.
LC Automation's solution is the launch of its website which Chadwick says; "is continually updated and an invaluable resource for anyone responsible for safety in the workplace".
In fact it provides important information on new product developments and the latest British and European legislation, directives and standards, with links to other Internet safety resources such as the Health and Safety Executive and BSI websites.
"Safety is seen as a real growth area with manufacturers designing new network and software based products, which allow users to get diagnostic information and keep their employees safe", says Chadwick.
He goes on; "One specific area that's causing a lot of interest is the AS-interface safe controller, which allows control and safety functions to be fully integrated on a single network.
It gives improved flexibility, reliability and diagnostics while reducing installation and maintenance time, it's a real winner".
Another popular innovation is the Palletiser entry/exit safety system, which actively discriminates between products and personnel.
As Chadwick explains, "It allows specific products or pallets to pass through photoelectric light curtains but still prevents the operator from entering the dangerous area.
It keeps staff safe while production keeps moving, improving speed and productivity while still conforming to strict safety legislation". Request a free brochure from LC Automation ...
