The MTR-DCI electrical drive motor from Festo is set to start a new kind of revolution in UK automation.
Specifically designed for settings and adjustment tasks, the MTR-DCI can easily and quickly automate machine format settings to replace hand wheels, really increase production speed while reducing errors and downtime.

In a single unit, the MTR-DCI is an intelligent combination of four components: motor, gearbox, electronic power unit and controller.
Not only does it represent fantastic value for money, it immediately makes life easier for system designers and installation engineers with just one component to think about instead of four.

Its compact design, optional man/machine interface and ease of operation make the MTR-DCI almost unique.
Following the Festo principle of plug and work, all the stages of system design, from planning through to installation and commissioning, are smooth and easy.
All it takes to get an MTR-DCI working is a power supply and a fieldbus connection or a multi-pin I/O connection.
Work previously carried out by machine setters can now be performed in next to no time by precision electrical actuators such as the MTR-DCI.
There is no more need for adjustment by hand.
Electrical servo drives, for example, are used in the packaging industry to adjust guide stops to each desired carton size.
The MTR-DCI is also in demand as a team member for the cyclic feed of material in dosing devices, such as injection-moulding for example.
Commissioning is quick and simple with a choice of programming methods depending on requirements.
PC programming is possible using an RS232 interface together with the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT) software supplied as standard, or the optional integrated LCD, which forms the man/machine interface of this compact drive can also be used.
The high resolution and choice of character sizes makes the text on the display easy to read and the display can even be turned in steps of 90 degrees depending on installation orientation.
Target and teach-in positions together with mechanical axis settings (spindle pitch, stroke etc) can be adjusted easily via an operator menu.
This allows the operator to keep everything in view at all times, both diagnostic data and more importantly operating data.
Thanks to this continuous monitoring facility, changeover times are considerably reduced, simplifying many operations such as size changing in packaging and printing industries.
The MTR-DCI and DMES linear actuator, supplied fully combined and tested, form a dependable team which guarantees a high level of safety.
Equipped with a self-locking trapezoidal-threaded spindle which drives a slide, the DMES and MTRDCI provide high torque with compact dimensions and high load capacity.
No matter whether they are used as repositioning modules, adjusting guides on printing machines or for positioning tasks in metal stamping operations, these components ensure the correct adjustment of guide stops.
There is great emphasis here on flexibility, with complete compatibility with Festo's modular handling system.
The dynamic duo also leads the field in mounting and installation.
Standard mechanical interfaces mean that installation work gets off to a flying start - making the components very easy to integrate into existing system designs.
