Orders and awards combined to make the MACH 2000 exhibition an outstanding success for Leader Chuck Systems of Birmingham.

Lathe chuck orders totalling at least £51,000 placed on the stand - and the honour of winning an International Machine Tool Industry Award with the MultiChuck MMY concentric clamping system - combined to make the MACH 2000 exhibition an outstanding success for Leader Chuck Systems of Birmingham Says managing director, Mark Jones: "The show started well for us by winning orders worth a substantial amount on the first day for a series of Gamet CR quick-change jaw chucks

"Then followed a number of deals that included a Leader four inch air chuck, a Hainbuch collet-style chuck and a Zweifel precision chuck." Five of the Gamet chucks - four of 400 mm diameter and one of 320 mm diameter - will be used in high-production single-spindle turning applications by blue chip manufacturers based in The Republic of Ireland.

Leader's Gamet chucks embrace the favoured lever type jaw activation (105 mm to 550 mm diameter), quick change jaw/anti centrifugal chucks (152 mm to 450 mm), high speed large bore chucks (90 to 315 mm) and the Delta Vario brand (programmable high/low grip types) in diameters of 140 mm to 400 mm.

"Another highlight of MACH 2000," continues Mark Jones, "was collecting an International Machine Tool Industry Award for Best Workholding Equipment, won by our innovative MultiChuck MMY concentric clamping system.

"MultiChuck MMY promises rapid clamping and short set-up times when self-centring components on vertical and horizontal machining centres, milling machines and grinders.

" Leader's MultiChuck MMY is available with jaw strokes of 4, 5, 8 and 10 mm across the four variants.

The low height of 25 mm to 40 mm maximises the machine's Z axis (height can be increased using blocks).

Quick change top jaws can be supplied to suit most materials/components.

MultiChuck MMY is available for external and internal clamping and will satisfy both first and second operations in the same machining cycle -thereby providing continuous output of finished components.

It will fit all slotted machine tables.
