Plugs provide self-contained seals

Betaplugs are pre-assembled one-piece tapered expansion plugs engineered to provide a leak-tight seal without the need for threads or sealants in fluid passages in metal castings and plastic housings.

Betaplugs are pre-assembled one-piece tapered expansion plugs specifically engineered to provide a leak-tight seal without the need for threads or sealants in fluid passages in metal castings and plastic housings Typical applications include use in manifolds for hydraulic, fuel injection and lubrication systems

The plugs can be supplied in a choice of designs including the 6000 series which are designed for high pressure systems (up to 7000lb/in2) and are available in sizes of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8mm diameters.

Other options include the short Betaplug constructed from 6061 aluminium and especially suited to high-volume automotive applications, such as oil pumps and engine covers.

They are suitable for low-pressure systems, up to 5000lb/in2 and are available in sizes 7, 9, 11, 13 and 16mm diameter.

The one-piece design of the short Betaplug enables easy automated or manual installation, whilst also providing the shortest installed height.

The principle behind the effectiveness of Betaplugs is the controlled expansion during installation which causes the lands and grooves on the outside of the plug body to 'bite' into the wall of the fluid passage.

This creates a leak-tight seal and ensures retention.

Furthermore, the unique tapered design eliminates the need for tight manufacturing tolerances and allows the designer to minimise the wall thickness required around the plug, even for brittle housing materials. Request a free brochure from Lee Products ...
