Analyser tracks down power quality problems

A LEM Instruments product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 30, 2005

LEM has introduced the Topas 2000 power quality analyser for problem solving in both industrial and utility electrical power networks.

LEM has introduced the Topas 2000 power quality analyser for problem solving in both industrial and utility electrical power networks.

The new analyser follows in the successful footsteps of its predecessor, the Topas 1000.

Enhanced by the implementation of the new IEC61000-4-30 Class A certified measurement procedures, this equipment offers the highest measurement precision and comparison of measured results.

This combination makes the Topas 2000 a reliable choice in cases of dispute and contractual issues.

Safety attributes, such as the high-quality housing and sensor isolation, are some of many characteristics that will be valued by its users.

The Topas 2000 measures, stores and analyses relevant parameters in three-phase alternating currents, providing support with fault detection and supply quality analysis.

This allows disturbances and their causes, as well as interfering mains pollution, to be detected and analysed.

The unit's 10Msample/s sampling rate for transients offers high signal resolution in troubleshooting applications.

The isolated housing and compact construction of the Topas 2000 make it suitable for a very wide range of applications and installations.

In addition, current and voltage sensors are automatically recognised when connected so that the sometimes awkward task of configuring sensors and related sources of error is avoided.

The unit's large data memory (1Gbyte CompactFlash card, optional 2Gbyte) provides effective long-term recordings, which can be used as the basis for detailed evaluation and analysis to assess disturbances and the mains voltage quality.

The Topas 2000 is equipped with a powerful TCI/IP and USB network connection for a fast and safe PC transfer of stored data.

PC software is included with the analyser.
