The findings detailed in the recently published Lenze Group Annual Report 2000/2001 have served to reinforce the company's position as one of the world's leading authorities on drive technology.

The findings detailed in the recently published Lenze Group Annual Report 2000/2001 have served to reinforce the company's position as one of the world's leading authorities on drive technology.

At a time when many companies have suffered under a less than healthy economic climate, Lenze's turnover and profit has been bolstered by record sales.

Consolidated sales in the year 2000 to 2001 reached GBP 256 million, the highest level ever, with growth on the previous year up 25.7%.

Gross profit rose by GBP 25 million to GBP 149 million, an increase of 20.2% on the previous fiscal year, while the number of employees rose by 13% to 2,683.

Acquisitions, investment in research and development, extension of its product range and a continued trend for software products have all played a major role in Lenze's success during 2000 and 2001.

"Despite the economic difficulties faced by UK machine builders in our traditional markets, Lenze has achieved great success with servo systems and our position in this market is a strong one", said David Foster, Joint Managing Director of Lenze (UK).

"Particular strengths include a broad product range that includes industrial PCs, human machine interfaces, software and most of all an experienced team of engineers.

Also our business with geared motors increased significantly so that we had to reorganise our assembly operation to meet demand.

We had particular success in car park barriers, machine tool applications and the waste handling industry, which is growing fast due to recent legislation".

Stewart Hylden, Joint Managing Director of Lenze (UK) added: "In order to offer prospective customers a new purchasing channel, we introduced the first stage of an e-commerce programme - the Lenze UK webshop; selling inverters, geared motors and a range of other products.

We realise that the end users of our products turn to us for advice and expertise more and more.

To meet this interest we are also developing relationships with new partners such as specialised distributors and system integrators".

In addition to a product range that proves Lenze's commitment to continual development and improvement, Lenze has in place an after-sales service that reflects the value it places on its customers - and in turn their customers.

Indeed, Lenze was recently presented with a prestigious Quality Award by one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers, further cementing Lenze's reputation for excellence in both manufacturing and service.

As the trend towards decentralised drive systems grows, mechanical and systems engineers will increasingly source companies that can offer a comprehensive range of products combined with world-class service.

It is this understanding of both the marketplace and customer's needs that has ensured Lenze's success in 2000/2001, while placing the company in an ideal position to excel in 2002 and beyond.
