Bevel gearbox saves energy over worms

A Lenze product story

Lenze has extended its range of gearboxes with the launch of the GKR05 model, believed to be one of the most efficient right-angle gearboxes available in the market today.

The GKR05 bevel gearbox offers design engineers and OEMs savings of up to one third of the energy consumed when compared with worm gearboxes of similar size.

The GKR05 is rated at 240Nm, making it the largest in the current Lenze GKR range of gearboxes.

The gearbox design features helical and bevel gears that run with an efficiency of 96%, with gear ratios of up to 60:1 available.

The high gearbox efficiency means reduced losses, cooler running gears and, ultimately, longer life.

No maintenance is required for up to 16kh.

This combination of cool running and reduced electricity bills guarantees a rapid payback on investment.

Motor inputs are usually three-phase with powers from 0.25 to 4kW.

However, single-phase, DC, flameproof and flux vector motors can be readily combined.

The right-angled output is available as hollow shaft, or male shaft on one or both sides.

The GKR05 is easily fitted, as the compact, rectangular design incorporates mounting holes; alternatively output flanges can be added as required.

In addition, the cubic shape and high performance combine to offer space and cost savings on machines.

Ron Marwick, Business Development Manager for geared motors at Lenze, states: "We are delighted to introduce the GKR05 to our range of gearboxes as it brings so many tangible savings to the market, ranging from energy efficiency, to long life and space saving.

We expect payback times on this product of less than one year for our customers, which will undoubtedly contribute to the popularity that we expect for this product".
