New England at the NEC

A Lenze product story

A small corner of the NEC took on the flavour of New England at the Drives and Controls Exhibition, as Lenze celebrated its new distributorship for the compact economical smd inverter.

This inverter, produced in the Lenze-owned AC Tech factory in Massachusetts, marks a breakthrough in general purpose drives by its sheer simplicity.

The newly signed up StockDrives partners were first gathered together for a presentation by Tony Pickering, General Manager for AC Tech in Europe, who outlined the promotional campaign of the smd so far and ongoing support for the future.

This includes not only provision of marketing materials and technical backup from Lenze, but also training for distributors and their customers either on site or at Lenze's purpose-built training centre in Bedford.

Many of the new partners also attended the popular seminar held each day at the exhibition.

Here Pickering pointed out the growing market for a general-purpose drive, where speed of setup and low maintenance were prime considerations.

Illustrating his point at the seminar he went on to describe two quite different applications, one where the smd was used to control the watering of a commercial greenhouse, another where the drive controlled the operation of a rehabilitation exercise machine.

After their briefing, the StockDrives partners were each presented with a certificate by their Lenze Area Sales Manager and offered some New England clam chowder, American style quiche and Samuel Adams beer from Boston.

Red Sox caps were also dished out to spice up the occasion held on the 108m2 Lenze stand, which continued until just after close of show on Wednesday afternoon.

The Stockdrives partners, based throughout the UK and Ireland, will hold their own stocks of smd drives as well as promote sales of Lenze's 8200 vector, 8200 motec and 9300 vector inverters where these prove more suitable for the customer's application.
