Distributors welcome best-selling drive

Lenze has appointed more than 20 independent UK distributors for its new smd Series AC drives range, which is fast becoming a best seller across Europe with sales already in excess of 100,000 units.

Lenze has appointed more than 20 independent UK distributors for its new smd Series AC drives range, which is fast becoming a best seller across Europe with sales already in excess of 100,000 units against a general backdrop of slow EU market growth for drives The smd drive was launched to distributors at the UK Space Centre in Leicester where the drives had simplicity and strength in common with exhibits such as the original Soyuz space station, if not the stratospheric cost

"The new distributors are experienced, skilled electromechanical sales and technical support operations, providing a degree of market penetration that we would not be able to achieve through Lenze itself", commented Geoff Spear, Lenze UK Marketing Manager.

"The product was very well received, distributors saw it as a highly competitive problem solving item that also allowed them access to a wider range of customers".

The smd is a new highly competitive range that brings with it increased functionality and efficiency from very compact units, fast programming and a breakthrough in existing price barriers.

To help illustrate the smd's simplicity and robust construction, delegates were given a modular smd kit of components and asked to construct a 0.25kW drive.

The first team to finish took just seven minutes to complete and went on to demonstrate how easy it was to use by running it and altering the programme settings with no additional training.

The smd is based on proven technology from AC Technology, a member of the Lenze group.

The new smd drives have been developed for engineers and designers who have long been aware of the benefits of fitting a variable speed drive in a power transmission system, but ruled them out due to cost and complexity.

Now, they are a viable option and offer the advantages of controlled start up, overload protection, reduced mechanical wear, as well as improved speed and positioning capabilities in many more applications. Request a free brochure from Lenze ...
