Metal disc couplings meet ATEX standards

A Lenze product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 26, 2004

Metal disc couplings manufactured by Monninghoff that are certified to ATEX standards.

The ATEX directive has now been in force since July 2003 with the intention of providing standardised guidelines governing the use of equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The guidelines cover for the first time the potential risk from mechanical components such as flexible couplings.

Lenze are now able to supply metal disc couplings manufactured by Monninghoff that are certified to ATEX standards.

Monninghoff metal disc couplings are available in single and double flexing designs to create a shaft connection that is torsionally stiff and backlash free.

Three ranges exist from the miniature Mini-Servoflex, to standard Servoflex and the heavy duty Arcoflex.

All three are able to be used in ATEX zone 2 category 3G environments, and the Mini-Servoflex and Arcoflex models are also suitable for zone 1 category 2G, where flammable atmospheres are occasionally present.

This new certification means that the designer faced with ATEX regulations has a wide choice of flexible couplings.

The three ranges cover rated torques from 1 to 14000Nm and shaft sizes between 4 and 120mm.

Most models can be supplied from stock in the UK at Lenze, and also customised spacer versions can be supplied.
