Panel PCs offer a choice of fieldbuses

A Lenze product story

Panel PCs can be adapted for control and visualisation tasks, machine-oriented operation, measurement and parameter setting or for image processing.

The EL 2200 to 9200 panel PCs from Lenze Digitec's embedded range can be adapted for control and visualisation tasks, machine-oriented operation, measurement and parameter setting or for image processing.

An internal socket enables the addition of fieldbus modules, for which Profibus and CANopen modules configured as master and slave, MPI, and serial and parallel interfaces are also available.

Additional flexibility to the range is provided by the PCI slot and a combined PCI/ISA slot that takes extension cards up to 290mm in length.

Accessories offered by Digitec include fieldbus controllers for Profibus, Interbus, CANopen and Device-Net in PCI and ISA versions as well as various I/O cards.

With possibility of adding a self-contained SPS slot or soft SPS, the EL panel PC can be used to create a complete, powerful and compact automation system.

Thanks to the varied and interchangeable fieldbus options it can also be integrated into a heterogeneous automation architecture.

Depending on the application, the operator has a choice of screen size from 6.4 to 19in.

The panels are either touch sensitive or glass covered with optional special function keys, alpha keys or with an integrated operating display in MF2 layout.

Customised layouts are also available.

Other addons are scalable to the suit the application.

CPUs range from Mobile Celeron 600MHz to Mobile Pentium M up to 1.6GHz, and operating systems range from Windows XP and XP Embedded to Windows CE.

Depending on the operating system selected, installation is done on HD or via CompactFlash.

The latter allows PC systems to operate safely even in environments where there is heavy vibration or danger of knocks.

All EL panels come with an Ethernet connection, two inputs for COM and USB and a CompactFlash slot.

There is also a pluggable front USB port to aid the connection of peripheral devices.

This is activated and deactivated via a software function.

Even with this integrated input device, the front face has IP65 protection.
