Touchscreen HMIs incorporate Soft-PLC

A Lenze product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 15, 2008

By combining two automation modules into one , Lenze offers cost savings and simplified installation.

Lenze's EL100 range of touchscreen human machine interfaces HMIs feature a standard Windows CE operating system and can now be supplied with an integrated Soft-PLC which meets the EC61131 standard.

This creates a solution where one device performs two functions and is ideal for compact machinery produced in high quantities.

The EL100 touchscreens are available from 5.7 to 10.4in.

The Windows CE operating system, together with Lenze VisiWinNet visualisation software, speeds up the process of display programming.

All six models can be selected with a low-cost option of a Soft-PLC running the industrial standard languages of IEC61131.

Compared to the pure visualisation panels, the EL100 PLC versions have twice the memory capacity, with 64Mbyte flash and 128Mbyte RAM.

In addition a maintenance-free UPS protects against short-term supply interruptions and retained variables are saved on an integrated flash disc.

Interfaces on the EL100 displays are designed to be flexible and allow easy connection with host controllers and other devices.

A CANbus connection suits other Lenze L-force components such as drives and I/O.

An Ethernet connection suits programming from a PC, and there are MPI, RS232 and USB ports.

By combining two automation modules into one device, Lenze offers cost savings and simplified installation.

Machinery can be made smaller.
