For a limited period, Leonardo Computer Systems announces the release of what it believes to be the world's least expensive Rapid Concept Modeller.

Rapid Concept 250 is a Rapid Concept Modelling System that can design and build physical concept prototypes up to 250 mm square, to any height.

The System includes the SilverScreen CAD Solid Modeller, and a limited size version of the JP5 laminated object modelling system, comprising software, cutter and registration board.

The system software can also import STL files from other solid modellers.

Running on any standard Windows PC, it is possible to model objects and assemblies using SilverScreen.

Then, using the RP software to slice the model component, or imported STL file, and cut the laminations with the cutter provided.

These laminations can then assembled rapidly into a physical concept model using the Rapid Concept assembly jig.

Finished models are coated with sealant, and can be sanded and painted for presentation and evaluation.

Rapid Concept models are accurate and robust, and can be used to make further moulds for casting of other materials such as plastics or metals.

A 25 cubic cm model will take an hour to make and costs ?3 in materials.

An 800 cubic cm model will take 4 -5 hours and cost ?40.

Accuracy is generally around 1%, and minimum wall thickness is 1 -2 mm.

As a limited offer, Rapid Concept 250 is available until April 30th 2001 at a cost of ?1,995.

Users can upgrade to the unrestricted size JP5 modelling system at a later stage if desired.
