Upgrade to electrical CAD at half price
Existing CAD users can upgrade to one of Europe's most popular electrical CAD packages for half the normal price between now and 15th July 2001, thanks to Leonardo Computer Systems
Existing CAD users can now upgrade to one of Europe's most popular electrical CAD packages for half the normal price Between now and 15th July 2001, Leonardo Computer Systems is offering users of ELCAD, Electrical Designer, E-Plan, ElproCAD, Promis-E, RS-Wire or Schemelect the chance to upgrade to the full, professional version of WSCAD (WSCAD Mega) for just £875 per copy, plus support at ?75 per annum
An electrical schematic package specifically for drawing electrical panels and cabinets, WSCAD is Europe's most popular electrical CAD software, currently used by more than 30,000 companies world-wide.
Unlike other electrical design packages, it does far more than help in the production of diagrams: its many advanced features are designed to ensure the fast production of electrically correct drawings that can be integrated easily with mechanical designs produced using other packages.
It has been designed for maximum speed and accuracy, without the compromises associated with other common software packages, many of which were originally developed for mechanical engineering applications and subsequently "extended" with electrical engineering modules.
WSCAD Mega is the full, professional version of WSCAD.
It is unique in including "managers" that control the allocation of contactors, PLCs, cables and terminals and ensure that drawings are electrically correct at all times.
It is also unusual in the electrical engineering world by including symbol libraries, accessible with the mouse using pull-down menus.
These contain dozens of special commands, including 4,500 pre-drawn electrical symbols, provided in BS, IEC, DIN and JIC formats.
Other features of WSCAD Mega include automatic numbering and cross-referencing, and the automatic production of components lists.
The automatic numbering and cross-referencing feature automates what would otherwise be tedious and error-prone electrical tasks.
The software automatically numbers and cross references components, contacts, wires, cables, PLCs and terminals, and produces customised listings of materials, terminals, cables, connections and PLC elements.
In addition, it can generate labels automatically and will also perform calculations such as costs and labour.
Before producing a components list, the software scans the completed schematic, allowing the user to drag and drop component outlines from the list to create the panel layout.
The software can calculate the area of a panel, and automatically positions components in the correct place on the drawing.
WSCAD Mega sits over a MS Access-compatible database, ensuring the easy exchange of data with other Microsoft-compatible software packages.
This makes it particularly suitable for electrical engineers working alongside mechanical designers, since they can receive data from and send data to other systems while using their own, dedicated software developed especially for electrical engineering design work.
Finally, lines and symbols are displayed sharply and cleanly, with neat true type text, in mono or colour.
Drawings can have an unlimited number of pages, a contents list if desired, and clearly presented tabular listings.
